On the work
“My summer project was highly strategic in nature. Our client, a large biotech company, was concerned about losing market share to its primary competitor and was looking at how it might be able to leverage a new physician channel to grow its business. My role was to research the advantages and disadvantages of three strategic options identified jointly by the client and ZS. My work involved a significant amount of time on-site with the client working closely with their sales, marketing and decision-analysis teams. Ultimately we were able to make a recommendation that the client will pursue.”
On the internship
“In preparation for your internship, brush up on your quantitative skills. Most consulting firms just make sweeping recommendations but do not provide the type of back-up information that really persuades a client to make the necessary changes. ZS is able to distinguishes itself with its ability to analyze and interpret data using sophisticated analyses to back-up its higher-level strategy recommendations. It would also be helpful to review current events in the industry you will be covering.”
On the San Francisco office
“The San Francisco office has a very strong teamwork culture and open working environment. Everyone really goes out of their way to make new people feel part of the team. There is a tremendous opportunity for skill development and career advancement.”
